VOLUNTEERING

Giving a little back to the community that provided so much to me!

22 Years of Service

Volunteer Fire Fighter

Moorestown Fire Department

I was Introduced to the fire department at a very young age.  The story that is circulating was that my father brought me to the Fire House in the baby carrier.  My father being as second generation firefighter for moorestown, he was more than proud to introduce me as the possible third generation Middleton to serve his community.  And as always, he was correct, it was in my blood.  As I grew I I eagerly counted down the years till I could ride on the big red truck.  That day finally came when I turned 16 and entered into the Junior Firefighter Program.  Over the next 2 years I attended the academy learning as much as possible while at the same time attending school, sports, going to department drills and meetings, running fire calls and working a part-time job.

Today I am currently on reserve status but eagerly looking forward to the day I can be placed back on the active list.

Until then I stay as involved as i can by attending meetings and chairing "relief Beerfest".

Camp No Worries

(Children's Overnight Oncology Camp)

Camp No Worries was actually started by my good friends sister whom at a young age she was diagnosed with cancer and survived.  She created Camp No Worries with the help of her family and it is still in operation today.  I became involved as soon as I turned 18, donating my time at first as a Cabin Counselor.  After my first week there I was hooked.  I returned for the next 15 years taking on a variety of roles. From Cabin Counselor to Boating Director to Waterfront Director to Assistant Program Director and finally as Archery Director.

Every year was different, new faces, old faces, and even some missing face but never forgotten.  I was happy and lucky to have been a part of camp for as long as I was.  If my next place of employment offers paid volunteer hours, I already know where I am going.
