How can Kevin Middleton help your company solve problems?
PROJECTS
Below you will find some of the problems I was tasked with finding solutions to in previous employments.
Personal
Problem : Finding a career with growth potential that benefits from my skill set
Solution: Build a website that highlights aspects of myself that would not be visible from just looking at my Resume and allows potential employees to see the benefits that come along with hiring me. Also gives potential employees an insight as to who I am outside of the work environment.

Holt Logistics

1/6
I was originally employees by Holt Logistics as a Stevedore Supervisor. After some restructuring of management my knowledge of technology was utilized to help the Stevedoring Department become more efficient as well as improve our customer relations.
Problem : Fruit Customer wanted a regular update of ship discharge progress.
Solution: Build a Excel sheet that can calculate progress of ship discharge by simply inputting current discharge numbers provided by internal count system. In order to make the sheet more customer friendly, provide visuals to show progress.

Problem : Location reports of cargo placement on ship still being done with pen and paper, then transcribed to digital at a later time.
Solution: Implement the use of an iPad with a simple program (Excel based, user friendly, tap and type methodology) that is easily comprehended, reducing training time and eliminating the need to transcribe at a later date.

Problem : New business brought a container vessel with more containers that we were custom to handling. Assigning two cranes to the task made sense but estimated time of completion and task designation were still to be determined.
Solution: Build a Excel sheet that take total number of container, allows you to split task between two cranes (A and F) and allows you to use production averages on individual crane operators to estimate time of completion.

Problem : Constant updates to customer are important, but when dealing with thousand of tones of raw steal discharge, the captain and ship engineer require daily updates in order to maintain the structural stability of their vessels.
Solution: Develop a system that can calculate total amounts of product and product weight discharged into a simple document that easily understood to assist in the planning of discharge, all while calculating productivity levels to assist in estimated time of completion.
Kids First Swim School

As the General Manager of this Kids First location I was in charge of each aspect of the facility, from training of staff, general maintenance of the facility, all revenue producing programs.
Problem : Current scheduling of class time and levels was being dictated by first come parents, all following parents had to adhere to schedule dictated by parents who arrived first to sign up students.
Solution: Create as schedule that applies to the bulk demand of skill levels and times accommodating more children at once and increasing revenue. Limit class numbers in a single time slot, reducing the number of instructors needed, reducing cost. Post schedule on a wipe board behind desk so customers can visually see what would fit best into their schedule.

Problem : Customer perception of school was on the decline due to poor presentation and lack of customer service.
Solution: Implemented a uniforme program for each position. Trained all employees on proper customer service techniques regardless of position held, all employees were considered a representation of the company. Modified staff break room to promote staff to break time out of site of customers.
Problem : Over staffing and poor tracking of hours worked by staff.
Solution: Instituted timesheet tracking system for staff to clock in and out with. Calculated anticipated hours needed to accomplish weekly work and compare at the end of week with total hours worked to ensure no extra hours went unaccounted.

As a member of Relief Engine Company Volunteer Fire Department in Moorestown New Jersey, we are always looking for ways to raise money to assist with the retention and motivation of our volunteer members.
